Headers and Footers
To take advantage of all available space on the website, we have added information to the header and footer sections.  The header contains: a school site selector, a website translator and links to create/manage your website account.  The footer contains the: site physical address, search window and district site map allowing you to see all district locations in one convenient view. Take a look and let us know what you think.

Teacher Sites
Are you interested in the latest activities in a particular teachers classroom?  Now you can subscribe to their page using your My Account link.  Anytime their section is updated (homework, syllabus, activities), you will receive instant notification.  Subscribe to your favorite teachers section now and watch as their pages grow and develop.

Calendar Management
Interested in District Board Meetings, High School Sports and Middle School Drama activities, but don’t want to manage multiple calendars?  Once signed in, click the More link on whatever calendar you are viewing.  Select Customize View and add information from any other calendar in the district.  You can color code your activities for simplified management, and export activities into your favorite calendar management program (ie. Outlook, Entourage, Google, etc.).

Bread Crumbs
Have you ever found the perfect page on a website and forgot how you got there?  Well, never get lost on the NLMUSD website again.  At the top of each page are “bread-crumbs” that tell you the exact path to get to where you are.  The crumbs are dynamically linked, so clicking them will take you directly to any previous page.  How is that for advanced navigation!

A True Language Translation Engine
The problem with most website translators is that only the text is translated.  Oftentimes, the links, the menus and the titles remain in the native language (English) making navigation of the website still a difficult process for non English speakers.  The new website uses a customized translation engine that, when activated, translates all areas of the site, including menus, channels and text into the chosen language.  Many languages are available including, Spanish, Korean, Tagalog and many others. Our new website is truly accessible to all members of the community!

We Are Listening
The website is a continued work in progress.  Over the last month, we have received lots of feedback and as a result have made a number of changes.   One such example is in the site shortcuts section of the homepage.  There is now a Schools and Sites link that opens a page with all District Sites including addresses, phone and fax numbers.  There is even a hyperlink to the specific school or district site.  Give it a try and let us know your thoughts.
