Hello and Welcome
Who Am I?
I have been teaching middle school for 19 years in the Norwalk-La Mirada school district.
this is my 15th year teaching 8th graders. I have advanced degrees in educational technology and public policy and administration. I am a graduate of UCLA, National university, and Cal State Fullerton.
I am in my second year as a Model Integrated Technology (MIT) teacher. The MIT program provides students with access to a technology-infused curriculum (SMART boards, iPads, iPod touch's, computers, etc.) and a program rich in project-based, student centered learning where the teacher acts as facilitator for student learning.
Please consult the Powerschool Portal (click on the assignment to see the details & do date) or your child's agenda to see the assigned homework.
I am available via email. For same-day response please email me before 3pm.
I will not be posting daily work on this page.
Grades will be updated weekly on Powerschool, so please check the portal regularly to see your child's progress.
Any downloadable files posted on the "Student Handouts" page will be available for one week from the date of posting, so students should access them in a timely manner.
Assignments & Grading Policies
Grades are assessed with a standard scale ( 90%=A, 80%=B, 70%=C, 60%=D, below 60%-F).
Classwork, homework and projects will be 35% of the grade; tests, quizzes, and other assessments will be 65% of the grade. Since assessment show the culminating knowledge from our studies, they make up the bulk of the grade.
Assignment due dates are not suggestions. Students should plan accordingly to get assignments in on time.
Students are expected to model the six pillars of character and respect themselves, the teacher, and each other at all times through both their actions and words.
Thank you.
Ms. Ramont
