Welcome to Los Coyotes Middle School

Welcome to Los Coyotes Middle School for the 2013-2014 school year!    My name is Dr. Christina Stanley, and I am honored to serve as the principal of Los Coyotes Middle School.

We are pleased to partner with you on your student's educational journey.  The staff at Los Coyotes is committed to the education and development of well rounded, contributing members of society.  We provide an academically challenging environment for all students, extensive extracurricular programs, balanced literacy strategies, and leveled math classes to support students' growth potential.

We are implementing the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in the curriculum and teachers are collaborating to bring deeper levels of knowledge, understanding, and meaning into the daily classroom experience.

This year's theme is "Don't be a Bystander!"

*Students can get involved at Los Coyotes Middle School through WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) Mentoring, Leadership, Intramural Sports, the Centurion Honors Magnet and Scholar Academy, Academic Pentathlon, Photography and Video Production, Campus Beautification, Drama class and productions, Technology and Business experiences, College Week, Medieval Arts, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, World Percussion, Science Fair, the Medical and Forensic Magnet, Tall Flags, Cheerleading, Fencing, National Junior Honor Society, and AVID club.   Our highly sought after Leadership class supports many of the ongoing school activities, develops leaders, and provides representatives from each class to have a voice in school government.

*Students can be people of Character because Character Counts at LCMS!  We have a focus each month on our target Character traits (Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship), a monthly pancake breakfast to recognize outstanding students, front of the line passes, extra time at lunch, and more!

*Students can put a stop to bullying and bad behavior around them by talking to their WEB mentors, joining the anti-bullying lunch group, intervening when they see bad behavior, and working with ASB/student leadership and our staff to promote a positive school culture.

*Students can be active participants in their education through accessing PowerSchool to check grades, missing work, and attendance. Students can follow up by talking with their teachers.   Students can also join PTSA!

*Students can seek help when needed—through tutoring for academics or the guidance counselor for any other issues.  We offer additional support in English for our English Learners.  Support in Math and English is also available through iPass, iReady, and Study Skills.  Tutoring is available to all students before school and after school in all core subjects.

*Parents can get involved by joining our PTSA, volunteering at school activities, and taking an active role in your student's education through accessing PowerSchool, checking your student's homework and backpack, and emailing or talking to teachers.

Great things are happening at LCMS!  Please don't hesitate to let us know if we can be of any assistance. We are here to help you and, most importantly, to help your student be successful!   Los Coyotes Middle School is a GREAT Place to learn and a GREAT Place for students!
