Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal."

Hello diligent students...Welcome to my home page!   When attempting to access the syllabus from the class page make sure that you specify month and year in the drop down boxes on that page :^)
Please check your class page to find the course syllabus and ongoing reading assignment for this year.  You will find class expectations , due dates and homework listed there as well.
The Summer Project for incoming 9th grade Honors students to complete prior to September is also listed on this page, for downloading.

I am teaching Language Arts for 9th grade and Honors 9th grade for 2012 - 2013.  In addition, I am the coordinator for the AVID program on our campus and involved with the ACE academy and LinkCrew.  I'm looking forward to a productive and exciting year with  our 9th grade students.

Reading is my 'chocolate' and I've read too many great books to have one favorite. Among the best that I've read are: Siddhartha, Huckleberry Finn, Anna Karenina, The Ponder Heart, The Old Man and The Sea, and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, and most recently Peace Like a River by Leif Enger and Testimony by Anita Shreve.

Our classes are in room 571 amd I'm available most days from 3:00 to 4:00 pm for students needing extra help and guidance or for parent conferencing.

Parents, please contact me in advance to schedule an appointment; email is best contact. 562-868-0431 or cwhite@nlmusd.k12.ca.us.
