Gardenhill Elementary is a community-orientated, family based school that strives to provide excellence through academics. Because we believe family support in a child's academic career is the true foundation for success, we appreciate and gladly welcome volunteers for many different capacities within the school. For those who enjoy working directly with children, teachers can utilize volunteers any time in the classroom. This may include helping a young child with the basics of beginning reading, assisting a small group with writing practice, or helping a student who is struggling with multiplication principles. If you prefer more clerical type duties, there are opportunities to prepare homework packets, cut materials for an academic craft, or use the copy machine to prepare future instructional materials. We also have volunteer opportunities outside the classroom setting. Our school library can use volunteers to file and repair books, assist students with the checking-out of materials, and making copies for the school's reading program.
At Gardenhill, we understand many parents work during the day and are not able to volunteer during school hours or have grandparents and aunts or uncles who would also like to participate in a child's future. Many P.T.A (Parent Teacher Assosciation) activities can also use volunteers such as the Fall Festival,Fifth Grade Send Off, or Red Ribbon Week. Several of these activities require help and organization that may be done in the evening or weekend hours. The P.T.A. can also use on-going volunteers to help coordinate fund raising events, field trips and special assemblies.
